I liked
David Bowie's catchy songs from the eighties but the Ziggy
Stardust stuff from the seventies sounded like rough drafts of songs that could
be good if worked on (but what do I know?) Here I am in a narrow cut-through
where two of his most famous albums were recorded - Hunky Dory and The Rise and
Fall of Ziggy Stardust.
This slit of daylight through Soho buildings is called St Anne's Court
but it's a rabbit run between Dean Street to Wardour
Street. In the seventies it was Trident Studios (still is a recording studio)
and lots of famous singers and bands stuff was created and recorded here:
Queen, Rush, The Beatles, Loud Reed, Jeff Beck, Rod Stewart and lots of others.
It seems a bit unfair the plaque only mentions David Bowie.
Trident Studios was sold in 1981 and it's been through the hands of
many investors since. I thought I'd have a quick look while I was passing
through Soho.
